About Jenna L Sellis CBT

Welcome to the homepage of Jenna L Sellis CBT Limited. I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and EMDR Therapist working in Harborne, Birmingham. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy which, like counselling, offers a supportive environment in which to explore particular emotional difficulties. CBT works in a different way to counselling and therefore would be more suited to working with different difficulties. EMDR is further approach which compliments CBT well and hence can be offered as an alternative or in combination with CBT.

CBT is a structured therapy which has a strong evidence base for treating difficulties such as Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Eating Disorders. It is often recommended by GPs due to its strong research backing. Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is another evidence based therapy which is primarily used to work through traumatic incidents which could lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD).

Lavender-Flowers-45571030Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Eating Disorders are common problems which can begin to have a large impact on people’s lives. Often when people seek out CBT or EMDR, they describe feeling low, down or depressed in mood or find that they feel nervous, on edge or worried a lot. This may be in response to very specific situations but can also feel like it comes ‘out of the blue’ or is present much of the time. Some people even describe having always been ‘a worrier’ but a particular situation or sequence of events has made this more frequent, intense or more difficult to manage. Other people are not so aware of their emotions but notice that they avoid a lot of situations which make them feel uncomfortable and wish to be able to confront these situations with the support of a therapist.

At Jenna L Sellis CBT, I offer face to face therapy which gives strategies for managing and overcoming such difficulties. I provide a confidential and supportive environment in which to explore what may be maintaining the problems in the present and to establish and work towards achieving your goals for recovery. Both EMDR and CBT are structured therapies and aim to help empower you to maintain progress independently, following the typically short-term therapy. I am fully accredited by the British Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapists (BABCP) which means that I have completed a recognised training course and I am required to provide evidence that I am continuing to develop my practice and receive regular supervision.

Though my sessions are mainly offered face to face in Harborne in Birmingham, I can also offer sessions via telephone and Skype to help work around busy lifestyles.I offer a free initial consultation over the telephone so if you have any questions about CBT or EMDR and their suitability for your needs, please give me a call and we can arrange this. There is no obligation to book sessions following this consultation.
